Daily Roundup – Science Bitches

“Science has not yet taught us if madness is or is not the sublimity of the intelligence.” – Edgar Allan Poe

“The art and science of asking questions is the source of all knowledge.” – Thomas Berger
“Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life.” – Immanuel Kant

Backed By Science?

Some supplements have scientific research to back up their health claims, others not so much. I Fucking Love Science has shared this infographic to help determine which are which…

Neil Gaiman Delves Deep Into Norse Myths for New Book

I have several UU friends and hopefully they’ll get as big of a chuckle out of this t-shirt as I did. Haha!

Funny Unitarian Universalist Shirt.
Your guess is as good as mine.

By the way; someone asked where you could buy one of these so I went looking and found this:

So, there’s that. 🙂

“Diana” by Viona Ielegems

“Brother,” Artemis chided. “You do not help my Hunters. You do not look at, talk to, or flirt with my Hunters. And you do not call them sweetheart.”
― Rick Riordan, The Titan’s Curse

“Little sister!” Apollo called. If his teeth were any whiter he could’ve blinded us without the sun car. “What’s up? You never call. You never write. I was getting worried!”
Artemis sighed. “I’m fine, Apollo. And I am not your little sister.”
“Hey, I was born first.”
“We’re twins! How many millennia do we have to argue—”
― Rick Riordan, The Titan’s Curse

Not sure if he’s speaking Gaelic or just drunk. Bahahahaha!

Do what you can with what you have where you are at…

I’m sure some people are probably sick of me sharing Omnia’s ‘Pagan Folk Lore’ video but I just love it. I’m especially intrigued with their take on Edgar Allen Poe’s ‘The Raven’.

Daily Roundup – Green Album Luck

I’m going to start sharing a collection of things I run across each day on the internet that I find cool, interesting, thought provoking, newsworthy or maybe scary. I hope you enjoy…

Green Album - Rainforest Trust Hero
Green Album – Rainforest Trust Hero

Behold the awesomeness that is this! Sales of The Green Album (I bought my copy. Did you buy yours?), which debuted at Caldera Fest this past May have saved 1,817 acres of rainforest at the Balanga Forest Reserve in the Congo. Let’s all keep doing our part to save pieces of this planet for nature to thrive so future generations from whom we borrow this land can have an opportunity to enjoy unspoiled spaces.

Blindfolded Goddess of Luck

This post is brought to you by Connor…and his mom who proudly wears his name. 💚
With thanks to Ogham Art.

When a spirit gives you a gift, even if it’s just a voice, take it with gratitude, for it might be the only thing they have to give, and they chose to give it to you. Hmmmm. Worth thinking about. Thanks San Jose Paranormal.

That’s it for today. Stay tuned for more tomorrow or perhaps sooner if I come up with something else to jabber about.

Speaking Fluent Meme, Who Me?

So… A few days ago on Ye Olde Book Of Face I shared a video which has been wildly popular of late on the interwebz by Blogger, Vlogger Essayist, Humorist and more Jenni Chiu with her response to a meme that’s been out there in which she brings up some very excellent and valid points. See this article from Bustle about said viral video.

Depression Meme

I recall seeing this meme sometime in the past few months. I honestly don’t recall whether or not I shared it but am kind of leaning towards I probably did not for several of the reasons that Jenni Chiu addressed in her video response. The top half is indeed good advice. The sun, nature and meditation are wonderful mood enhancers which I think we can all attest to. But some people do need chemical help to balance their systems out and who are those of us who are not walking in their shoes to judge them or that which they use to get through life?

But, maybe I did share it too. Sometimes, I share things I may or may not agree with in the hopes that it will spark interesting conversation in the comments and someone who knows more about the subject might enlighten me a little. Hopefully in a non-condescending manner but in the world of internet comments sections it’s hit and miss on that…mostly miss. 😉 Anyone who knows me and follows the things I post online probably has gathered that I do like memes for the most part. Why not? They are easily portable, bite sized chunks of pictures and text that can convey humor, wisdom, ask pertinent questions or give us something to think about. A picture can be worth a thousand words and a picture with words can be all the better right? Well-llll. Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Sometimes the message conveyed in these little bite sized chunks of social media are biased or engineered to provoke or are just an outright hoax. It’s time consuming to fact check every single one of these and some of them are very cleverly disguised as something factual when in fact they aren’t. I know I’ve had egg on my face a few times when someone has pointed out that I’d been duped. It happens. I usually try to edit my post to point out the shenanigans so others may be aware and move on. But I think it would behoove us all, myself included, to take better care not to spread misinformation which may be harmful or hurtful to others as much as we can.
